Privacy Policy

            The short version: Your recipes are yours. We store them on your device and optionally sync them to your private cloud account. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we don't share your information with third parties.
        

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address to create and manage your account. If you use Sign in with Apple's "Hide My Email" feature, we only receive your relay address.

Recipe Data: Recipes you create, import, or photograph are stored locally on your device. If you enable cloud sync, your recipes are also stored in our secure cloud database (Google Firebase Firestore) linked to your account.

Photos and Images: Photos you capture or import for recipe parsing are sent to our servers for processing, then discarded. They are not stored on our servers after processing is complete. Recipe images you save are stored locally on your device.

Usage Data: We collect anonymous, aggregated analytics to improve the app (e.g., which features are used most, crash reports). This data cannot be used to identify you.

To process and parse your recipe photos and links using AI
To sync your recipes across your devices (if enabled)
To manage your subscription and account
To diagnose crashes and improve app stability

3. Third-Party Services

ChefsEdge uses the following third-party services:

Google Firebase - Authentication, cloud database, and hosting
OpenAI - Recipe parsing and AI-powered features (only recipe photos and text are sent; no personal data)
Apple StoreKit - Subscription and purchase management

Each of these services has their own privacy policy governing how they handle data.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your recipe data is stored primarily on your device. Cloud-synced data is stored in Google Firebase, which uses industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest. Your data is isolated to your account and cannot be accessed by other users.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We do not display advertisements. Your data is only shared with the third-party services listed above, solely to provide app functionality.

6. Your Rights

You can:

Export your data - You can export all your recipes as a JSON file from the account menu at any time
Delete your account - You can permanently delete your account and all associated data (recipes, tags, shared content) from the account menu in the app. You may export your recipes before deletion. Account deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.
Opt out of sync - Use the app in offline-only mode without cloud sync

7. Children's Privacy

ChefsEdge is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes through the app or by updating the date at the top of this page.
